A settlement has been reached in a lawsuit filed after the death of a 21-year-old man whose body was found in a southwestern Michigan field following a party.

The Herald-Palladium of St. Joseph reports Tyler Carr's parents will be paid a total of $82,500 in settlements in the wrongful death case. Their lawyer, Kevin Anderson, says his clients plan to use the money to open a trust fund to support area athletes.

Authorities have said Carr died after apparently being run over by a vehicle. The Watervliet man's body was found in March 2012 following a party at a nearby home in Berrien County's Pipestone Township, about 10 miles southeast of St. Joseph.

Under the settlement, no one involved in the case acknowledges liability.
