SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- Children at Memorial Hospital were surprised to see Elmo and Cookie Monster walk into their rooms today.
The Sesame Street Characters stopped by this afternoon to help cheer the kids up.
They played with the children and read a book to those who could gather in the pediatric play room. They also visited other children who couldn't get out of bed.
And seeing these characters really helped the children forget where they were.
“I think for a minute it takes them away from reality and just for a minute lets them be a kid, be a real kid and not have to worry about things that sometimes as adults we have to worry about,” said Joey Baez, a spokesman for Sesame Street Live.
Elmo and Cookie Monster are in town as part of the 'Sesame Street Live' musical showing at the Morris Performing Arts Center today and tomorrow.
