WASHINGTON D.C.,--- Indiana Senator Joe Donnelly honored the servicemen lost in the last year ahead of this Memorial Day.

Senator Donnelly spoke on the floor of the U.S. Senate to pay tribute to three men, two of which are from Michiana.

Army Staff Sergeant Jesse Williams of Elkhart was killed in action after a Black Hawk Helicopter crashed in December of 2013.

Air Force Tech Sergeant Dale Mathews of Rolling Prairie died in a plane crash during a training exercise in England in January.

Donnelly called the men true heroes.

“They served their country with distinction,” said Sen. Donnelly. “They made their family, friends, and all of the people of Indiana proud, and all of the people of America proud, and I send my continued thoughts and prayers to their families.”

Senator Donnelly also honored Army Staff Sergeant Randall Lane of Indianapolis, who died in September 2013 after a non-combat related illness in Afghanistan.
