SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Indiana Sen. Dan Coats says the Hoosier state has a lot to brag about.

Senator coats stopped by NewsCenter 16 Friday afternoon to talk about the latest in the nation's capital.

He says Indiana has had great success for the past several years, and its time its policies should be taken and modeled in Washington.

“We have gone from a deficit to a surplus, we have balanced our budget, we have built infrastructure, lowered taxes, created a much more efficient government, taxpayers pay less per federal state employee in taxes than any other state,” Coats said, “it's the go-to place to go to, those policies ought to be transferred to Washington D.C.”

Coats also told NewsCenter 16 he believes it's time to take a step away from Obamacare.

He says there are other ways to address the plight of the uninsured.
