As people age, one of the hardest things is simply living in their own homes independently, that is especially true in hard economic times like these.

Congressman Joe Donnelly, representatives from the Elkhart Housing Authority, Medicare, and AARP held a seminar Monday called "Home Sweet Home."

The goal was to better inform seniors of what they can do to live independently and find the best ways possible to use their money and their resources.

Attendee Mae Moody said, “It's very hard to change from one place to another. One type of lifestyle living to another as you grow older, and we need to be aware of what is available to help us to adapt to those changes.”

Congressman Donnelly said, “It's an effort to try and make sure that you are financially secure and that also you're secured health wise and emotionally as well.”

If you would like a list of the resources discussed at the seminar, you can contact Congressman Donnelly's office at 574-288-2780.
