A semi-truck full of potatoes went up in flames early Monday morning after the driver swerved to miss a deer.
The Illinois semi driver was travelling around 4 a.m. on the Toll Road near Michigan City.
Andrzej Kudlacik, 31, told investigators that a deer ran out in front of the vehicle and he swerved off the roadway, hit a concrete wall, causing the truck to roll onto its side.
Kudlacik escaped from the truck before it caught fire, and was not hurt.
Fire crews were called to put out the blaze that engulfed the truck, as well as fiery debris strewn across the lanes.
Eastbound lanes were closed for about two hours for cleanup.
