BREMEN, Ind. -- Mother’s day is right around the corner and if you are looking for something to do with your family, we have an interesting idea. It's not flowers, it’s not a card, it’s not jewelry, it’s something you haven't thought of but if safety is important to, this is right up your ally.
This Saturday, Bremen Family Martial Arts is hosting a self-defense seminar. It’s a great way for your family to learn how to defend themselves in case of an emergency.
“A lot of people depend on women, their kids, their parents, their husband, their boyfriend, friends, it’s not a luxury. We feel it’s their responsibility to have some self-defense training,” explains Bremen Family Martial Arts owner and head instructor Larry Maxson. “Violence is rarely the answer and we are always taught that, but when it is the answer it’s the only answer and we are going to touch on that and why it is okay because of the attitude that maybe we have to carry to survive and it is going to take that violent effort.”
The seminar is about two hours long. During that time folks will go over self-defense techniques, situation awareness, survival techniques and more.
This self-defense seminar is for women ages 13 and above. The session is open to anyone, from anywhere and no registration is required. The class starts at 10 a.m. but the doors open at 9:30. Again, it is at Bremen Family Marital Arts at 105 E. Plymouth Street in Bremen.
