A war of words has broken out among some members of the South Bend School Board.
On Friday, board President Roger Parent said the board did not improperly discuss the possibility of closing a school at a closed door meeting Thursday night.
Parent also had strong words for the board member who suggested otherwise - Bill Sniadecki.
“This is a very serious matter, and I'm asking, we're asking, Bill Sniadecki to apologize publicly and in writing, to the board, and to Superintendent Schmidt, I’m alsI’asking him to resign from the vice presidency of the board,” said Parent.
Parent called Sniadecki's comments, unethical and irresponsible.
Parent said the closed door meeting was called to discuss legal matters, and that the board briefly talked about the possible impact a school closing would have on the desegregation consent decree.
Sniadecki said he had nothing to apologize for, and that all school closing talk should take place in public.
