After a failed referendum, the Mishawaka School Board is looking at a limited number of options to avoid shutting down one of its schools.

Tuesday night, concerned residents attended a school board meeting at John Young Middle School, where many spoke out about the suggestion to close Hums Elementary School.

Many expressed disagreement or concern about the future of students and the school system, if Hums is closed.
Budget figures will be shown during a Feb. 11 board meeting at Emmons Elementary.
