For many of who lived in South Bend on 9/11 11 years ago, our thoughts on this anniversary turn to one of own who died in the Twin Towers, Katie McCloskey and her family.
Katie was a 25-year-old Adams High School and IU Grad who had just moved to New York City to live her dream in the Big Apple. She was at work on the 97th floor of Tower One when the first plane hit.
Since her death, her family and friends have given back to our community in Katie's name. Scholarship money in Katie's honor goes to Adams Grads.
South Bend Medical Foundation, where Katie's Father Dick regularly donates, gave $5 to the scholarship fund for everyone who donated blood Tuesday.
Katie's Dad Dick has inspired a lot of people around the area, last year on the tenth anniversary he told me he had one request for the day, that people do something good for someone else.
