The Better Business Bureau of Northern Indiana is warning people to be careful when it comes to companies offering work-from-home jobs.

Spokesman Dreama Jensen says scammers are advertising a confidential job that allows residents to work from home. They say they're looking for people who reside in the Indiana/ Michigan area.

They ask respondents for personal information like address, social security number, bank name and the account number. Jensen says they're setting residents up for identity theft.

“The number one is just do not give all of this information until you know for sure who you're dealing with,” she says. “You get the name of the company, you get some background information on the company, then do your own checking to find out if this really is legitimate."

Contact the Better Business Bureau with any questions about a company’s legitimacy.
