Michiana residents have reported scams in our area about a Microsoft virus software company.
An individual named Nick, says he is calling to protect you, and encourages you to immediately purchase their software.
These scams are tempting, because Microsoft is a well-known company, and Nick is very pushy in his demands, even threatening.
He'll tell you, you have over one-thousand viruses on your computer, and if you don't take care of it right away, your computer will crash and shut down.
Nick says he doesn't use email because of the many fraudulent email scams going around. But the red flag is he won't give you a number to call him back, he says they don't want to confuse their secretary with unknown incoming calls.
Dreama Jensen with the Better Business Burea says, "It's just so ridiculous, but it's actually happening. And we're getting the calls, it is happening in this area."
She adds, "and he's got such a way of saying it that some people are scared, we've had one that's gone ahead and done so," in reference to someone falling for the scam and sending money.
