Dozens will head to Saint Mary's College this evening to dance the night away.

The school's “Stand Up to Cancer” Club will host a special prom for anyone currently taking on cancer, survivors, and their caregivers. It runs 6 to 9 p.m. in Welsh Parlor of the Haggar College Center on Saturday, March 2.

This is the second year the club has put on the prom. This year, guests will enjoy a "Don't Stop Believing" theme.

The push for the prom comes from the fact thousands of cancer patients forgo attending special events, like dances and weddings because of their illness.

Attendees will dance the night away to music provided by DJ3J. They'll receive flowers from Sweet Pickens Floral & Gifts and receive a souvenir photo.

Light refreshments will also be served.

Before the festivities begin, guests can receive special pampering services. Salons associated with the Hello Gorgeous organization will offer free pampering for cancer patients and survivors, including makeup, nail, hair, and head scarves. Anyone interested in this pampering just has to go to the ground level of Haggar from 4 to 6 p.m. on the day of the dance.

If you’re interested in attending the dance just email “Stand Up to Cancer” Club president Devon Graham. Registration is required. Devon can be reached at dgraha01@saintmarys.edu.
