The Saint Joe Valley Blue Star Mothers are busy filling boxes to deliver to the Walter Reed Military Medical Center in Maryland.
A barn has been transformed into package central as volunteers work to fill up about 50 boxes of needed items for veterans.
Next Sunday, the group hopes to hand-deliver a variety of items including clothing, toothbrushes and even DVD's.
Members from the group went to the hospital last year and say the trip made them want to continue these efforts year after year.
Sandra Boldt is president of the St. Joe Valley Blue Star Mothers and says, “It was inspiring, it was a humbling experience. Makes you self-reflect that whatever is going on in your life is nothing compared to what these men and women are going through. It gave me more motivation that I have to do more and try to find out what else I can do.”
The group will also be delivering goodie bags designed especially for veterans in wheelchairs or using crutches.
