The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department is increasing safety precautions at Concord High School after school staff found a possible explosive device outside on the first day of school.
According to The Elkhart Truth, a school employee contacted police at 6:51 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, to report a suspicious bottle found on the ground near the school.
Sheriff’s officers arrived and found a plastic bottle filled with a liquid and some foil, said Capt. Jim Bradberry.
The device appeared to be designed to cause a chemical reaction that would make the bottle burst, Bradberry said.
