The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department is working to make roadways safer for Amish residents.
This week it released a manual with information for drivers of horse-drawn buggies as well as visitors and residents using 21st century modes of transportation.
The manual, developed because of a fatal accident that killed two Amish girls last September, covers topics like buggy lighting, operator age requirements and general roadway conduct.
