SUV driver survives crash with truck hauling corn

Baroda - A 30-year-old Baroda man is lucky to be alive after his vehicle and a truck carrying corn collided.

The truck was carrying 6 tons of corn when it turned onto Cleveland Avenue from Hinchman Road in Baroda around 6 p.m. on Thursday.

The front end of Jeremy Elliott’s Chevy Blazer was destroyed, but he only suffered minor injuries according to our reporting partners at WSJM Radio.

He and 77-year-old Fred Schmaltz, who was driving the truck carrying the corn, were treated by medics, but did not go to the hospital.

Both men were also wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
