For one Mishawaka couple, New Year's Day will shine forever.
Not only did they get to ring in the new year with a new addition to their family, but their little of bundle of joy also holds the title of Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center's first baby of 2013.
Jhontee Dietz, 22, and Alejandro Alvarez, 26, welcomed a healthy baby girl into the world this morning. Diamond Alexandra Alaverz arrived at 5:09 a.m. Tuesday, weighing 6 pounds, 15 ounces.
Jhontee spent about 15 hours in labor, giving birth about a week before her expected due date. The happy parents can't wait to bring their first daughter back home.
" I have two boys and it's a little different, so I'm a little nervous, but I'm excited," Jhontee said.
The now-mother of three said she's looking forward to dressing Diamond up in "all that cute girly stuff."
Michiana's very first baby of 2013 was born at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. Madison Hankins arrived at 1:15 a.m. to parents Katrina and Jarrod.
