SBPD Chief Ron Teachman grew up near Boston, praises law enforcement

One of South Bend's own has certainly felt the effects of the situation in Boston.

South Bend Police Chief Ron Teachman is from New Bedford, Massachusetts.

He says he's worked with many of the officials we saw at the press conference last night and has friends who were hurt by the explosion.

Plus, three of the suspect's friends were picked up by police in his hometown, so this has really hit home for him.

Chief Teachman got some much-needed relief after last night's capture.

“Well I was certainly proud for the home team,” Teachman said. “What the public saw were their public safety officials, their police officers for various jurisdictions all working together, working as a team and fearlessly chasing the threat… I am proud of especially law enforcement how well they worked, proud of their commitment and courage and look forward to seeing them soon.
