The South Bend Fire Department climbed to new heights Thursday afternoon, by scaling the County City Building, and sending firefighters over the edge.
Imitation rescues were performed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, as specialists displayed their skills in a high-risk training scenario.
“This is part of the South Bend Fire Department Tactical Rescue Team,” says Brent Vanbruaene from the South Bend Fire Department. “It’s a 36 member team that receives specialized training--in highly technical rescue events, everything from confined space to trench rescue, building collapse.”
Thursday they simulated a high-angle rope rescue.
