South Bend, Ind. The pink South Bend Fire Department shirt is raising money for Young Survivors of Michiana.
The group has a specific mission, helping women under 40 who have a lump or a family history of breast cancer get mammogram's and biopsies.
“Most of the women in our Young Survivors of Michiana group were under 40 years of age when they were diagnosed,” explained Kim Zobrowski. “So meaning they don't have access to, even if they have insurance, it’s not necessarily going to cover the cost of this service. And women under forty need different types of diagnostic tests that are more costly.”
The shirts cost $15.
They are available at the Central South Bend Fire Station at 1222 South Michigan or at the Firefighters Union Hall at 4025 Lincolnway West.
