The South Bend Chocolate Company has been selected to take over all food service, beverage, gift shop and vending operations at South Bend International Airport.
The new arrangement will go into effect on June 1.
From the South Bend International media release:
The South Bend Chocolate Company is committed to significant upgrades to the customer experience at SBN. Renovations will first take place in the post-security restaurant and gift shop followed by a remodel and re-concept of the food and gift operations on the public side. Espresso-based drinks, made-to-order food items, and local gifts including works from local artists and memorabilia from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana University South Bend, and area museums and other attractions are just some of the product additions that will be included during this renovation process.
“We could not be more excited to bring our brand to South Bend International Airport,” said South Bend Chocolate Company Owner Mark Tarner. “Bringing in regional, upscale brands will help differentiate the airport and create a sense of place allowing us to create a great retail and dining destination that is on par with our downtown flagship store.”
“We work daily to encourage business and leisure travelers to fly local by starting and ending their air travel at South Bend International,” said SBN Executive Director Mike Daigle. “The local South Bend Chocolate Company brand combined with Mark’s vision and creative ideas made him the natural choice to become the new concessionaire and make travels through SBN ‘sweeter’. When his visions and plans are fully implemented, travelers will have a very memorable experience as they come and go from South Bend.”
The South Bend Chocolate Company will replace the services provided by Air Host since 1977.
