Elkhart, Ind. No one was injured in a morning house fire just west of downtown Elkhart.

Firefighters were called out to the 500 block of South 5th Street just after 8 a.m. Wednesday, according to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth.

When firefighters arrived, they found smoke pouring out of the home, as well as flames.

The woman who rents the home says she turned on a heater in one room and then went to check on something else in the house.

When she returned, a fire had started near the heater.

The woman tried to put out the fire using a fire extinguisher, but it didn't work.

Firefighters are still investigating the exact cause of the fire.
