From land to water, an Elkhart County man is selling hot dogs on the St. Joe River.

Ron Simons, the captain of Ron’s River Dogs, has been running his hot dog stand for three years.

During the week, Simons runs a shop at the Elkhart City Plaza. But on the weekends, he gets in his pontoon and sells hot dogs on the river.

He can tie up two boats at once and customers hot dogs with all the fixin’s – something he says you don’t want to miss.

“All Hebrew National, 100% premium beef,” said Simons. “People that remember MASH remember this restaurant, Tony Poccho's, that's the chili I use. Klinger made it famous. It’s an awesome chili. We do fresh onions, all kinds of condiments. If I haven’t got it, you don’t need it.”

Simons says that he has also had thoughts about taking his stand to new heights in a hot air balloon.
