While the Irish are preparing to take on Purdue Saturday, South Bend police are gearing up for game day traffic.
Construction around Notre Dame's campus brought some headaches last season, but there is some hope for drivers this year.
One of the main construction projects currently underway will be putting the brakes on its progress during home game day weekends.
Crews have been out on State Road 9-33 for the past few weeks renovating Memorial Hospital's skywalk, causing lane restrictions in both directions on the busy road.
But officials said all of the lanes will be opened starting Friday afternoon on home game weekends to allow for smoother traffic flow.
Still, police said you should expect some delays, and suggest you avoid the half-mile radius around campus completely unless you're going to the game.
