Construction creates confusion on Gumwood Road

There seems to be a lot of confusion when it comes to construction near Gumwood road and Cleveland in Mishawaka.

Along Gumwood Road one section is supposed to be open while another part is supposed to be closed.

For example on Wednesday all of Gumwood from Cleveland to Brick was supposed to be closed.

Drivers were told this week they would have to drive through Heritage Square's parking lot to get to Toscana Park.

However one lane on Gumwood from Cleveland to Toscana Park was open later in the afternoon, creating confusion for drivers.

Meanwhile also on Gumwood, north of Toscana Park, is supposed to be open by now but it is still closed.

“We had one lady who parked her car over at a spot where she knew where she was and then she walked over and she said I can walk over but I can't figure out how to drive over,” says Jennifer Stouder from Nutrition Works.

Jerry Macri from Villa Macri says, “I always knew that Granger was going to grow and that's why I built out here and with the sidewalks coming in on both sides and all the extra apartments and retail it’s going to be the place to be on this side of town. So we just have to patiently wait but I wish they would consider us as they are doing it to keep a lane or two open.”

There are couple deadlines businesses and homeowners want construction workers to keep in mind.

Businesses want the road open since this weekend is the first home game

Meanwhile for parents the roundabout was supposed to be finished by the time school started since Prairie Vista is just down the road on Brick Road.
