NEWBURY TOWNSHIP, Ind. A Goshen man was killed Wednesday morning after a crash in LaGrange County.

It happened at 6:15 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 20 and 600 West.

The driver of a pickup truck, Harvey Borntrager, was heading south on 600 W and failed, for unknown reasons, to stop at a stop sign. Borntrager crashed into a dump truck heading west on US 20.

Borntrager died in the collision. The dump truck burst into flames after impact, but that driver, 56-year-old Elmer Yoder, escaped without serious injuries.

U.S. 20 was closed for several hours as crews cleaned up the scene. Dozens of semis and other vehicles parked along the side of the road, waiting for it to clear.

The crash remains under investigation.
