The Riley High School hockey club aims to win big with a blood drive Sunday.
The students teamed up with the South Bend Medical Foundation to host the event as part of a community service project.
While the hockey club was busy running the event, some members took the time to even donate blood themselves.
“I’m gonna donate blood for the first time today. I just turned 16 in January, and I’m excited for it,” said Riley High School hockey club member Joe Beck.
Anyone 17 years-old or older can donate blood if they weigh more than 110 pounds, as well as those under 16 with permission from a parent.
The event was the first of its kind for the hockey club, and they said it was a great bonding experience. Sunday’s blood drive ran from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Notre Dame’s campus at the Compton Family Ice Arena.
