7-time RedBud Motocross champion Ricky Carmichael is returning to race at the famed track in Buchanan, MI.
But this time, it's on four wheels instead of two.
Carmichael, considered the greatest motocross rider of all-time, will take part in The Off Road Championship Trucks races Saturday and Sunday at RedBud.
On Thursday, Carmichael hit the track for the first time on a truck. He's never competed on a truck in dirt before and he'll debut against the pros. There's no place he wanted that first time experience to occur at more than RedBud.
"It being at RedBud is a huge factor," Carmichael said moments after testing out the track on four wheels for the first time. "The fans here are great to me. I just love it. I really do. I'm speechless. That was so much fun. I don't know what to tell you guys."
As for expectations, Carmichael says he just wants to have fun. He knows how difficult its going to be this weekend to compete and says it would be "shallow" of him to think he can compete with the drivers who do this every week.
Carmichael says this weekend is a trial run for whether he would consider doing something like this again in the future. It all depends on how it goes, how much improvement he sees in himself and how much he enjoys it.
This is the 3rd year for the TORC Trucks Races at RedBud. Carmichael and company will compete on both Saturday and Sunday with races beginning at 11am each day.
The cost is $20 a person for one day or $40 a person for both days.
