It was a great day for communication students at Bethel College as they held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new student media center.
The center houses all student media groups including the student newspaper, the Helm Yearbook, Bethel Pilot Radio Station and Prime Time TV News. This is the first time all of the groups will be in one facility, making things a little bit easier.
It used to be a dorm for male students, but renovations have made it a perfect spot for a media center. They have computers, an editorial meeting room, video editing room, video equipment, the radio station and production room in the lower level.
“It was really necessary. I mean if we are going to compete with other schools and recruit students for journalism or broadcasting or any career in media, we needed to have a facility like this,” says Tim Ceravolo the Director of Student Media.
Students have been using the center since the beginning of the year. Tim says they have had a great response, saying students really like everything being in one place.
