Residents at St. Paul's are collecting items for veterans at Miller's Vets

South Bend, Ind. Friday is Flag Day, and residents of the Sanctuary at St. Paul's spent the day packing up donations for homeless veterans.

They've been collecting bedding and toiletries for Miller's Vets, a drill group for homeless veterans. Over 70 veterans live at the St. Paul's facility, so there was plenty of support for the project. So much so, that the organizers are considering holding the drive next year too.

"We were still putting up the sign when and people started coming out with pillows and blankets and towels and all other types of toiletries, things that are needed desperately at the Miller's Vets Center there,” says Eldon Heatwole the chair for the Missions Committee.

And the drive will continue all weekend. Anyone wanting to donate, can drop their items off in a bin inside the facility's main entrance.
