South Bend A group dedicated to helping others is now looking for a little help of their own. In the past, Reins of Life, a center dedicated to providing therapeutic horseback riding lessons for special needs kids and adults, was looking for volunteer side-walkers or a horse leader. This time they are looking for volunteers to feed their riding horses.
Feeding teams meet in the mornings and early evenings. When volunteers arrive they will go into the feeding room and look at a menu they have on the wall. That menu explains what types of food each horse gets. They will then mix the food in separate buckets. Once that is done volunteers walk out into the pastures to actually feed the horses.
A feeding session is approximately a two hour commitment.
If you are interested you have to be at least 16-years-old. You will be trained in the group you will work with so training sessions are flexible.
