WASHINGTON, Ind.--- Football season is here and one high school referee is more than excited to be back on the field.
In November of last year, official Joe Calderazzo collapsed on the field during the Penn-Carmel semi-state game.
Calderazzo, 63, was resuscitated on the field and had to have triple bypass surgery.
The Washington, Indiana native returned to the football field this weekend to officiate a game.
“The first thing I say when I get up every morning is, ‘thank you dear Lord for another day that I wasn't supposed to have’,” said Calderazzo.
Calderazzo says he has some pain from time to time, but he calls it a reminder of the miracle that he's still alive today.
