It's National Telecommunications week, celebrating the dispatchers who coordinate police, fire and emergency responders.

Congress declared the event back in 1991, honoring the people behind the scenes who help save lives in emergencies.

This week also marks Work Zone Awareness Week in Indiana, symbolizing the ceremonial start to highway construction season.

WKVI reports that Governor Mike Pence declared the event to bring awareness to driving slowly and cautiously in work zones, in order to protect the workers.
