Rape charges lowered

WARSAW A Warsaw man originally arrested for the rape of a 14-year-old girl now faces a lesser charge of sexual misconduct.

Juan Juarez, 21, was arrested Monday at Green Acres Mobile Home Park. Officers found the girl outside crying. Her family said the girl's brother had rescued her from a locked bathroom, where she'd allegedly been with Juarez.

Stacey Page Online reports that Juarez admitted to police he'd had sex with the girl. The victim later told police that she consented to it, but she says she also told Juarez about her age.

Juarez has been booked in the Kosciusko County Jail.
