Radio-controlled air show kicks off in Elkhart

Planes are taking to the skies in Elkhart this week as the first annual radio-controlled air show is kicks off at the Elkhart Municipal Airport.

Dozens of pilots from all over the country will travel to the “City with a Heart” to show off their building and piloting skills.

Over 200 radio-controlled aircraft will be on display.

But it’s the story behind those who attend that became the inspiration for the event.

“You see this look in their eyes and they're not even hear with us no more their 50 years ago 60 years ago and they tell you that I used to fly one of those in europe and that's when the hair on my neck just stands up,” Chuck Hamilton the co-founder of Air Supremacy over Elkhart.

The show features everything from World War I biplanes to turbine jets.

It will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
