Purple Porch Food gets grant from DTSB

The Purple Porch Food Co-op in South Bend will be able to improve the look of their new store, thanks to a grant from Downtown South Bend.

The grant for exterior improvements is worth $25,000. The co-op is opening its new location on Hill Street this fall.

The community owned and volunteer-driven co-op will offer fresh produce, bulk foods, meat, dairy and soups and salads from an in-house kitchen.

When board members announced the new store last year they said they hope it eventually grows into an organic grocery store and cafe for folks downtown.
