Lansing, Mich. Hundreds gathered at the statehouse in Lansing today to show their support for public education.
A grassroots non-partisan rally was held at the capitol this morning to call attention to threats and cuts to Michigan's public schools.
Organizers say the current state legislature has dealt them blow after blow when it comes to education.
They list overcrowded classrooms and cuts to arts programs as some of the problems students in public schools face.
The activists were also protesting teacher cuts in school districts and school closures.
The rally was organized by public school teachers and administrators along with parents.
