Both President Obama and GOP candidate Mitt Romney took a time-out from campaigning this morning to share their prayers for the families and friends of those involved in the Colorado shooting.
At a campaign stop in Florida, President Obama spoke of the event as "evil", saying the federal government would do whatever it takes to bring the shooter to justice.
Romney too put aside political talk today at a planned campaign event in New Hampshire.
He too had a compassionate message for those affected by the Colorado Shootings.
“The people we lost in aurora loved and were loved. They were mothers and fathers, they were husbands and wives, sisters and brothers, sons and daughters, friends and neighbors. They had hopes for the future and dreams that were not yet fulfilled,” said President Obama.
“What we do know is how evil is overcome. We're seeing that greater power today in the goodness and compassion of a wounded community. Grieving and worried families in aurora are surrounded with love today and not just by those who are with them and holding them in their arms. They can also know that they're being lifted up in prayer by people in every part of our great nation,” added Romney.
President Obama and challenger Mitt Romney both made efforts to take down negative campaign ads today out of respect for the victims.
