Powerball mania is sweeping the nation, and the prospect of winning the largest prize in the game's history has folks everywhere rushing out to buy their ticket to a dream.
There's been a steady stream of customers lining up at Rick's 66 on Auten Road, all hoping to strike it rich. A whopping $550 million are up for grabs Wednesday night, after a ticket-buying frenzy drove up the payout amount.
And thanks to the record-high jackpot, Powerball sales at Rick's have continued to climb. Tuesday, they sold $1,100 worth. And Wednesday, they've seen even more hopeful winners come through their doors.
“In about six-and-a-half hours, we've sold $744 worth of Powerball tickets, just Wednesday,” said Jen Ferrara a Clerk at Rick’s 66. “On a good day I would say probably $200.”
Employees predict they'll be even busier Wednesday evening when folks get off work.
