Power outages in Cass County caused by car accident

American Electric Power is reporting power outages in Southwestern Michigan.

According to I&M, some 1,242 people are without power in Cass County, primarily near Barron Lake. Officials say the blackout was caused by a car hitting a power pole late Sunday afternoon.

The power company has not said when power will be restored.
