Utility crews at Andrews University spent the night working to restore regular power to campus, after a weekend power outage.
A problem at a campus power station in Berrien Springs caused power to be out at many buildings since Friday afternoon. The timing was especially bad as the university had to welcome students back in the midst of a power outage.
A generator was brought in to run the building that houses the campus cafeteria on Friday.
Freshmen students were already on campus for orientation, but upperclassmen wanting to move in were told they would have to wait until power was restored, due to the safety risk from the poor lighting.
On Saturday morning, the university brought in additional generators for the campus dorms.
Sunday university officials said the power station had now been repaired, so at 2 a.m. Monday, they started switching buildings from generator power, back to regular power.
