On Wednesday, the Potawatomi Zoo will reopen for the spring season.

The hours are the same, open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., but the admission prices have changed. Adult tickets are $8.50 and children and senior tickets are $6.50.

Zoo staff say employees have been very busy during the off season and plan to showcase new additions at the zoo. New animals include a female snow leopard, female chimpanzee and female red panda.
Plus, they'll offer more educational classes and a summer camp starting in June.

The zoo crew also made an exciting announcement on 16 Morning News. Starting Wednesday, community members can take part in a Naming Contest. Now through May 1st, people can drop off their choice on what to call the new male, baby takin at the front gate or office. Staff will then choose the winner and whoever is selected will be recognized with a small party near the takin enclsosure. According to zoo officials, a takin is a mix between a goat and antelope.
