Police say scam artists are posing as Microsoft employees and targeting senior citizens and less savvy computer owners.
They're milking victims out of hundreds of dollars by convincing them that they need to pay to get supposedly infected computers fixed. They ask for a credit card payment, which usually involves downloading fake security software. Police say Microsoft will never call you.
NewsCenter 16 received a message from a viewer earlier this week who was a victim of this scam. She says that she received four phone calls from different numbers on just a single day. She then asked to be put on the "do no call list" and the caller responded, quote, "we will call again."
