Goshen police are asking the public for information in their ongoing search for the suspect in an early October shooting.
On Oct. 5 officers were called to the 1300 block of W. Clinton St. at around 6:12 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting in the area. When they arrived they found Michael Edwards, 44, lying on the ground with four gunshot wounds.
Edwards was taken to Grace Community Church where he was then airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for further treatment. Within days, doctors said Edwards was stable and expected to make a full recovery.
Detectives say Edwards was standing in his yard when a dark-complexioned, young black man approached him. Police believe it was an attempted robbery, but say the suspect ran on foot before officers arrived.
The identity of the gunman remains unknown. Goshen Police ask that anyone with information contact the Goshen Police Department at (574) 533-8661 or call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-342-STOP.
