LaPorte County, Ind. A burglary ring in LaPorte County is shut down after months of work tracking down a suspect.

This morning the LaPorte County Sheriff's Department and Michigan City police department announced the successful closure of a number of burglaries this fall.

Items that were stolen and seized were on display.

There were computers, flat screens and jewelry all stolen from more than a dozen different homes.

The case goes back to September.

Police caught a break in the case when they used the GPS on one of the iPads to track down the suspect.

“They pretty much cleaned us out, they even took a brand new Sharp 80 inch TV,” said Glenn Lazzeri. “Do you realize how big that is? They carried it out and put it back in the box so they had a lot of time, obviously.”

On Wednesday, police reminded folks to call them if they see a strange vehicle or suspicious person in their neighborhood.

In this case, empty homes were being targeted and neighbors noticed the break-ins and called police.
