Police searching for missing taxi driver

A Michiana cab company is asking for the public's help after one of its own disappeared under suspicious circumstances.

Florence Mason, who goes by the name Sue, has been missing since 4:30 a.m. Monday.

She's been a driver for Yellow Cab of Elkhart County since January and was last seen leaving its dispatch office along Mishawaka Avenue.

Her co-workers say sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning she tried to get into her manager's home on Oak Street in Mishawaka.

Mason had recently gotten out of an abusive relationship and had been staying with her co-worker until she could get back on her feet.

But she never made it inside.

Her key was found in the lock, an un-opened beer bottle was smashed on the steps leading up to the door, and her phone was discovered nearby.

“She'd been working 5,6 days straight," Joseph Rapalski, Manager of Blue Ribbon Taxi/Yellow Cab of Elkhart County said. "She loved her job. She liked being a taxi driver. And it's just a little unlike her… I think she was abducted. I'm pretty sure she was abducted. With the busted beer bottle that was unopened, a phone next to her, key in the door, seems like a bottle was smashed against her head and she was took.
