Police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash in Elkhart County.
It happened Sunday around 12:30 p.m. on U.S. 20 between CR 21 and SR 15.
According to police, four people were hospitalized.
Police say the driver of a tan Chevrolet Impala, Devin Jewel, 21, of Elkhart, was traveling eastbound on U.S. 20 when the driver crossed the center line. Jewel then hit a Ford Crown Victoria head-on, driven by KC McClain, 25, of Mishawaka.
McClain's car struck two other vehicles after being hit by Jewel's car, creating a domino effect.
Jewel was flown to Memorial Hospital via MedFlight for his life-threatening internal injuries, as well as a fractured arm. McClain was first taken to Elkhart General Hospital and was then taken to Memorial Hospital also for life-threatening internal injuries.
Kayla McClain, 25, and Aiden McClain, 5, were taken to Elkhart General Hospital for internal injuries. They were passengers in McClain's Crown Victoria.
Kelsey Crandall, 22, of Elkhart and Zachary Stanley, 22, of LaGrange were driving the other two vehicles involved in the crash. Neither Crandall nor Stanley were injured.
Memorial Hospital tells NewsCenter16 that Jewel is now in serious condition, and KC McClain is in fair condition.
Toxicology results are pending. The Elkhart County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team is investigating, which is standard protocol for all serious crashes.
The road is still closed. Police say it will be closed for several hours.
