UPDATE: Victim ID'd in possible home invasion near North Liberty

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- St. Joseph County Police are investigating a possible home invasion just south of North Liberty.

The incident happened in the 29000 block of Quincy Road. Fifty-two-year-old Bruce Swope was shot in the face with a shotgun, but has non-life threatening injuries. He is cooperating with officers and was last listed in stable condition.

St. Joseph County Police tell us Swope was asleep at the time and was awoken by the intruder. He and the intruder reportedly got into a scuffle and at some point the homeowner got his shotgun and fired two rounds.

Shrapnel from the shotgun reportedly hit Swope in the face.

He told police that the intruder appeared intoxicated. He also said the suspect was a younger, white male.

Police are not clear if the intruder was injured. They searched the area with canines, but have not located any suspects.
