Police impersonator flees after Goshen traffic stop

Goshen, Ind. Drivers in Goshen say they were stopped by a man pretending to be an officer.

Now police are trying to find that man.

It happened in the 4500 block of Elkhart Road, according to our reporting partners at the Elkhart Truth.

It was just after midnight last night, when a car with a siren and a blue flashing light pulled up behind them.

A man came up to their car and said he was an undercover police officer.

But when the driver asked for identification, the man fled.

Goshen police are searching for a gold-green Chevrolet pickup truck, with a black grill and two black racing stripes.

Police want to remind drivers that all official police vehicles have red and blue lights.

Also, an officer should be in a marked squad car and uniform, to make a traffic stop.

Drivers can always call 911 if they feel unsafe.
